Restoration Of Implants
Dental implants are becoming one of the most popular options for replacing missing or damaged teeth. They can vary in shape, size, and number depending on the type and number of teeth that are being replaced or fixed. We offer state-of-the-art enhanced denture retention, replacement of lost teeth and/or cosmetic replacement of congenitally missing teeth. This helps to increase function so that you can throw away your dentures and have teeth that you don't have to take out! Implants are the most realistic looking and feeling option currently available. The restoration of an implant refers to designing, fabricating and attaching the replacement tooth to the implant root itself.
Full Mouth Reconstruction - Veneers
Full mouth reconstruction is often performed to restore the aesthetic appearance of the smile, but also can be done to restore functionality to the teeth for medical reasons. Full mouth reconstruction is a comprehensive set of procedures that starts with a thorough exam by our Florence SC cosmetic dentists. Drs. Richardson and Lunn will determine which combination of cosmetic and restorative procedures will be needed to achieve the desired results. This could include multiple dental crowns, bridges, implants, veneers and more. This could also be done to address previous dental work that is now problematic.
Traditional Bleaching Systems
Teeth whitening, or bleaching, is accomplished by using either in-office or take-home products that have one goal in mind: getting you a brighter smile. Our take-home systems are much like the in-office ones, just slightly less powerful and may need to be worn longer. These custom fit trays are filled with a peroxide whitening gel and are worn on your time over several hours or days- depending on our recommendations and the results you desire.
To help combat dental anxiety or dental phobias, we often utilize Nitrous Oxide sedation in our Florence SC office. Nitrous Oxide (aka laughing gas) is an odorless, clear, non-irritating gas that can be utilized to make you feel more comfortable during your procedure. Inhaled sedation is very safe and has very few side effects, besides maybe being a little drowsy afterward. No ill effects on the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys or brain have been seen. Drs. Richardson and Lunn will help you decide if this pain-free, anxiety-free method is best for you!
Treatment of Periodontal Disease
It is estimated that about 80% or 4 out of 5 adults in America suffer from some type of Periodontal, gum, disease. Gum disease can range from a simple inflammation and occasional bleeding to more serious diseases that can damage the supporting tissue and bone. Besides the threat to your oral health, research indicates that bad periodontal health can also negatively impact your heart, lungs and more. Whether it is stopped, slowed down, or even gets worse will depend on how often you see your dentist and how you care for your teeth and gums at home on a daily basis.
X-rays are one of the best tools we can use to keep your mouth and teeth healthy. By taking a closer look at the structures of the mouth that we can not see with the naked eye, we can diagnose jaw and teeth problems and treat them accordingly. For most patients, we will take digital x-rays on a regular basis (once every 6 months) so that their dental condition can be closely monitored. By using digital x-rays, Richardson and Lunn can reduce the amount of radiation you are exposed to by up to 80 percent!
Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are individual titanium posts placed into the jawbone in order to help stabalize dentures or replace missing teeth. The head of the implant is shaped like a ball joint and fits nicely over a fixture that we install in the base of your denture or replacement tooth. This fixture will hold the appliance firmly in place, while gently resting on the gum tissue below.
